Five

My Baby turned 5 yesterday. My. Baby. Not a baby anymore at all.
Today we brought cupcakes to school for the Birthday Boy. Jacqueline came to celebrate with the pre-schoolers and helped hand out pink & chocolate frosted funfetti cupcakes. What could be better?

creative workouts

When I drive around here I often consider veering off the road to take a few quick photos. One of the recent warmer days that's exactly what we did. Jacqueline and I packed up cameras and went out for a shoot. We wandered about town looking for the pretty things we drive by every day. It was time well spent. I loved seeing my daughter excited about capturing images.

A week or so later we went as a family to a gallery in nearby Avon, CT for the "Glitter Winter" show. The artist had many glittery canvases and a unicorn that went along with a "Lost Unicorn" poster campaign that she plastered around NYC. The kids enjoyed it and I always feel good after a dose of culture.

Just trying to keep creativity in the mix with kids obsessed with the wii, buried in homework and not a little sitr crazy after this very snowy Winter.

Winter 09

Jacqueline climbed atop the mini-mountain of snow at the end of our driveway. It was sort of melting but then we had more today - naturally.

holiday time

A chilly morning in CT, but the house looked so warm on my walk home from the bus-stop. I put up the garlands on the porch last night when I discovered them in the basement. I am not even close to ready for the holidays. Oh well. Maybe I'll get it together over the next couple days. A girl can dream.

10 Days

Here we are. 10 days into the new house. There are still many, many boxes but fewer than yesterday. There are still undecided pieces of furniture, rooms for rearranging, but we're here.

A few discoveries:
1) For a couple that doesn't drink much, we have enough glassware to open a small pub. Maybe that is what we do with the space that is primed for finishing over the garage.
2) Anyone need some vases? Maybe it should be a florist shop up there.
3) Toys are like Gremlins. When you get them wet, they multiply. They must, because no rational people would have so many toys in their home for only 2 children.
4) It is so awesome for your child to have a playmate down the street. They can walk to each others houses. Cool.
5) I am totally and utterly dependent upon the Internet. 10 days without it was too many. I was like a junkie checking my email on the PC at the children's library yesterday.

I think we can keep our phone numbers. I hope we actually have the closing as scheduled. It's exciting. It'll be a nice move for us to be in our own house and within a nice, quiet neighborhood.

Kiddie pools and sprinklers. What could be better? I highly recommend your running through the sprinkler at your earliest convenience. Seriously.

My New Toy

I ordered the FlipVideo camera for our upcoming family vacation. I think it's awesome. Easy to use and teensy-tiny to carry around the Magic Kingdom. Wish me luck with the family movies.
